LAZY GECKO GUESTHOUSE & BAR
LAZY SINCE: 2001
Special re-opening discounted room rates and extended happy hours!
A backpacker institution since 2001, Lazy Gecko started out as a small cafe in the traveller Mecca known as 'Lakeside'. After growing it's reputation as a comfortable hang-out with good vibes & great food, it relocated to its current city centre home in 2012, & is now a popular guesthouse, restaurant & bar frequented by expats & travellers alike.
Recently renovated & under new ownership, the Lazy Gecko team bring with them 14 years combined industry experience from across Cambodia which they've pulled together to remodel the rooms for freshness & comfort; introducing king-sized single dorm beds with AC, lockers, individual power sockets & luxury bathroom fittings.
The bar area has been opened up to provide an airy & relaxed social space, complete with an impressive collection of board games, beer pong & even a basketball hoop! Hang out & try our new menu, developed under the collaboration of Khmer and international chefs, enjoy hosted events, DJ nights, BBQs & happy hours.

Located in the heart of Phnom Penh, Street 258 has recently established itself as a popular backpacker row. It is pleasantly surrounded by 3 walking parks including Independence Monument, Wat Bottam, and the bustling riverside tourist hub. The Royal Palace and the National Museum are only 2 blocks away and Street 258 itself has 4 accessible pools and a cinema! Transportation to and from the Lazy Gecko is convenient; tuktuks can be found 24/7 and we are about a 10-minute drive from most tourist bus stations and about a 30-minute drive from the Phnom Penh Int'l Airport (depending on traffic).
From the Airport: Jump in a tuktuk, or take a taxi and tell them Street 258 near the Royal Palace. We are about 3/4s of the way down the street (towards the Riverside end) on the left.
Arriving by bus: There are many different bus stations in Phnom Penh, so it is difficult to provide directions as such, but as a general rule we'd advise getting a tuktuk, and telling them Street 258 near the Royal Palace. If they are really unsure, you can always give them our phone number and they'll normally be happy to give our reception a call to check.
Walking: We are sandwiched between Samdach Sothearos Blvd & Preah Sisowath Quay on Street 258, perpendicular to Wat Bottam Park.
We welcome all travellers. but please do bear in mind that our main demographic is backpackers of all ages
